Education

I received a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Michigan.

In addition to working at Laura Rose Psychotherapy and Coaching, I work at the North Marin Community Services organization, where I provide psychotherapy to their teen and adult clients, and also to students at Sinaloa Middle School.

About Elise Holland, AMFT

I believe we all have rich, inner worlds and stories to tell. When trauma, systemic oppression or attachment wounds stifle these stories, we lose connection to our essential selves. Symptoms of depression or anxiety arise. My goal is to hear my clients’ stories, honing in on the gems that are buried there to guide them back to their core selves. Through validation, compassion and creative visualization, I work with my clients to create, in Marsha Linehan’s words, a life worth living.

While our brains are shaped by key events, we can rewire them and reclaim our power. I love helping clients - adults, adolescents, couples and families - to accept beauty in their worlds and themselves. We collaborate to find the approach that works best for them.

A little about me; I grew up in the south of England and moved to the US when I was thirteen. I have lived in the midwest, on the east coast, and now in northern California’s beautiful Bay Area. I am deeply grateful for my experiences as a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an author, and a business owner - all of which inform my psychotherapy practice today.

Above all, I practice Carl Rogers’ theory of unconditional positive regard and his belief that “when I accept myself just as I am, then I change.”

Wherever you are on your life journey, I would love to talk to you about your therapy needs!
